Blue Grotto near Willston Florida is known to be the safest cavern dive in the area and it only requires an open water certification to dive there.
The Blue Grotto dive site is actually a dive center that is located around Florida’s largest underwater cavern. Its temperatures are a constant 72 degrees. The cavern offers an excellent fresh water diving experience for divers of all levels.
The Blue Grotto is rather large and can accommodate a number of divers. Its opening is 8-ft wide and 20 feet high. It consists of three dive areas, the open water basin, the upper cavern and lower cavern. The upper areas are used for training as well as diving for the strictly non-cavern divers. Remember to dive according to your level of training and not dive “over your head”. More experienced divers can dive to a depth of 100 feet down into the lower cavern.
In the following video clip, Jonathan Bird checks dives the Blue Grotto in an episode of Johnathan Bird’s BlueWorldTV. He also explores the “secrete cave”.
Watch a clip of tis episode below for a divers perspective on that the Blue Grotto has to offer.
