Scuba Diving Tips To Become A Better Scuba Diver

The advice and recommendations of others goes a long way at making you better at whatever you are doing. That includes scuba diving.

Here Mark Newman of Scuba Diver Magazine does a great job at sharing 25 tips that can make you a better diver. Many of his suggestions would seem obvious. However, in actuality, they are not. It is easy to get pre-occupied and/or distracted when you don’t have a plan. Watch the video below and put some of his suggestions to work on your next dive.

I really like his recommendation to do your dive mentally before entry. As he points out, it makes for a more relaxed and smoother dive. What’s interesting is that this suggestion results in less oxygen consumption. I never correlated the two.

I also like the suggestion of not waiting for a regulator failure before getting it serviced. You would think this is obvious, but apparently not.

Watch Marks suggestions in the video below. Its good for novices as well as the more experienced among us.

I also took note of the suggestion about re-setting our analog depth gauge’s maximum depth needle to more accurately reflect your maximum depth on the current dive. As he points out this may be important for insurance purposes.

Hopefully you found watching this clip informative. Did you pick up/refresh anything for your next dive?
