Certified Divers work as stage hands and are a key component of Cirque Du Soleil’s “O” performance at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover the role of a team of safety divers that handle/operate the the below surface stage of the Cirque Du Soleil production in Las Vegas. Having seen the show a few times, the thought never occurred to me that scuba divers were involved at all.
If you are not familiar with this particular Cirque Du Soleil production, it is theater/stage production that consists of a team of theatrical acrobatics that perform above a huge stage that includes a 1.5 million gallon pool. The pool is at the eye level of the audience and, well it is a site to see and experience.
There is a surprisingly large team of safety divers that invisibly supports the stage production from below the surface of the pool. There is no denying that these divers have a very important, yet invisible, job in this production.
The following video clip highlights how this complicated production rolls off.
