Sharks, for whatever reason, always seem to capture our imagination and an increased sense of anxiety. However, they are truly amazing animals that are very important in marine ecosystems.

As we all know, sharks have been around for about 400 million years. As a very successful species, there are many varieties of sharks inhabiting the seas and oceans of the world.

As much as I thought I knew about sharks, this is the first time I was made aware of the fact that certain sharks can spit out their stomachs and retract it within 1 second to remove undigestible contents. I had always wondered what happens to all of the junk, an other obviously indigestible things, that sharks have been reported to have in their stomachs.

Although I was surprised to hear about some shark’s ability to spit out their stomach and its contents, I found the vast distances and efficient use of stored fat and food to travel thousands of miles without having to eat very impressive.
