Make Your Diving Easier With These 10 Scuba Diving Must-Haves

A well eqioped scuba diver has a more enjoyable dive… rihght?

The following 10 items are suggested to enhance your diving experiences. Naturally, they are not required items… and is some cases they may seem a little excessive.  Nonetheless, they are suggested for consideration. I mean you don’t want to look like our scuba diver friend in the picture below. 🙂

The 10 must have accessories, as seen below, include cutting implements, a small dive kit to hold spare parts such as o-rings,  spare batteries, sealant, spare mouth piece.. etc. They even suggest the use of a garbage bag to assist putting on your wet suit. Also on the list is a surface marker buoy, fin spring-straps , double sided clips as well as a gear bag.  The remaining suggestions are to carry a small mesh bag for things you may pick up along your dive, neoprene mask strap and  finally an eraser for your dive slate if you use one.

Ok, so after all is said and done, my #1 important item, missing among the suggested is a Marine Rescue GPS device such as the Nautilus Lifeline GPS. There are just way to many strandings lately ad for the price, considering teh alternatives… its a no-brainer in my book. Just my opinion tho.

Ten Must-Have Dive Accessories

By Scuba Diver Life

While not required for diving, these few accessories can help make your diving life easier.

  • Cutting Implement

    By Scuba Diver Life

If carrying a dive knife concerns you or feels like overkill, get a pair of EMT or trauma shears instead. They’ll cut through nearly anything without the worry of harm that a knife may give you.

  • Save-a-dive Kit

    By Scuba Diver Life

This does exactly what the name suggests. Put anything n the kit that you think you may need and wouldn’t normally have access to while diving. For some suggestions, [check this post.](http://scubadiverlife.com/2015/02/20/build-save-dive-kit/)

  • Garbage Bag

    By Scuba Diver Life

While we recommend limiting use of plastics, we know we all have some form of garbage or other plastic bags. Put your foot in the bag before pushing into the wetsuit to make it easier to put on.

  • Surface Marker Buoy

    By Scuba Diver Life

These are for safety and peace of mind. They’re necessary for drift dives and useful in many other situations. Buy one and practice using it before you need it. [Check out this post for more info](http://wp.me/p2wxZT-Bg).

  • Fin Spring Straps

    By Scuba Diver Life

If you’ve ever wobbled in the surf or at the back of the boat trying to put on your fins, these are the answer to that problem. Donning your fins couldn’t be any easier than with spring straps.

  • Double-sided Clip

    By Scuba Diver Life

Use them to attach any number of things to your BCD: gloves, mask, camera, etc. Even if you don’t have a reason for them yet, if you have one or two you’ll quickly find a use for them.

  • Gear Bag

    By Scuba Diver Life

If you’re still carrying your gear around piece by piece, you need one of these. Get a collapsible one to save space on the dive boat or liveaboard. Get a hard one to protect camera gear.

  • Small Mesh Bag

    By Scuba Diver Life

These bags take up very little room since they can be stuffed into a pocket. Use them to hold any garbage you might find on a dive – no more excuses not to pick it up!

  • Magic Eraser

    By Scuba Diver Life

If you have a dive slate, then you need to carry a small piece of a magic eraser. It cleans the slate with ease without much scrubbing.

  • Neoprene Mask Strap

    By Scuba Diver Life

If you have hair, especially long hair, replace or cover your mask strap with a neoprene strap like these. It will make donning and removing the mask a breeze without grabbing your hair.
