This fish is called a stonefish and it is as poisonous as it is ugly.
The stonefish is known to be the most venomous fish in the world. They are well adapted ambush predators and their ugly look is the camouflage that allows them to lurk on the sea floor for food to swim by.
They typically grow to be about a foot long and are very comfortable out of the water for hours. It is quite common in certain regions of the world. Stonefish have venomous spines along their back. Hundreds of incidents of stonefish poisoning occur each year in Australia.
Their venom causes excruciating pain and swelling in the affected area .. and It could even result in death. Therefore, stonefish venom is in great demand for making the anti-venom.
