Watch Steve Backshall’s amazing experience with a pair of humpback whales.
Steve Blackshall of BBC Broadcasting had an unbelievable interactive swim with a pair of humpback whales. He finds a group of humpback whales. His timing was just right and he was able to get in the water with them.
He joined a baby whale and its adult female caretaker or babysitter, if you will. As it turns out, baby whales are not able to swim at depths and often remain behind with an adult whale for protection while the group fishes at greater depths below.
This opportunity provided an awe inspiring swim. The adult whale made direct eye contact with Steve, playfully mimicked Steve’s movements and pirouetting around him ever so gracefully.
